From the Principal
Dear Lion Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year at South Warren Elementary School! What an
honor it is to have you as a part of our school family! We are looking forward to working
collaboratively with all our families, community members, and stakeholders.
As your principal, it is a privilege to be of service to our parents, students, and staff
members at South Warren Elementary School. Once again this year, I will continue to work
alongside a hardworking dynamic staff. Our staff continues to be committed to providing the
highest quality educational experience for each student. In order for all children to reach their
own personal best, we believe high expectations, rigorous and relevant curriculum, best teaching
practices, a strong home and school relationship are the primary key factors for success. We
value the participation and input of our parents, community and all other stakeholders. We
encourage each of you to join our team as a school volunteer and PTA member. Just remember,
together everyone achieves more!
South Warren has a lot to be proud of as we continue to strive for academic excellence.
South Warren Elementary School students’ continue to show academic growth as they enter into
the 2018-2019 academic school year. South Warren has the highest elementary school end of
grade science scores in the District. In addition, South Warren’s Pre-K program continues to
be recognized by the State of North Carolina as a five star program. South Warren’s robotics
team has begun competing in the First Lego League state championships. We look forward to
our students’ achievements being spotlight once again this year in the Warren County news! We
are proud of our students, and families for their commitment to education.
In order for us to work together to have a great year, we need your help with ensuring
your child is school ready every day. We will continue our commitment to Positive Behavior and
Intervention Supports (PBIS) in order to foster and build character in our students.
We will recognize the positive things our students are doing and celebrate them each month. To
help our students build strong character, we need your support with our expectations and
standards.
Behavior Expectations: In order to maximize learning, we need your support with the
expectations. Encourage your child to learn, follow the rules and to give their BEST each and
everyday.
Dress Code: As you know, we have a standard mode of dress in the county. All students
are expected to adhere to the dress code each day. PLEASE help us enforce our dress code!
School/Home Connections: We value your active involvement in your child’s education!
We encourage you to attend our wonderful family sponsored events throughout the year. Parent
teacher conferences are excellent opportunities for you to come and see how your child is doing
in each of his/her classes. Joining the School Leadership Team and PTA allows you to contribute
to the inner workings of your child’s total school environment. Please don’t forget to sign up as a
school volunteer, our teachers would greatly appreciate your assistance. If we all work together,
South Warren can continue to ROAR about its accomplishments!
Thank you for sending us your children, and for entrusting us to give them the precious
gift of knowledge. We look forward to partnering with you to build a firm foundation for
success, and to foster a lifelong love of learning in your child! As Nelson Mandela once said
“History will judge us by the difference we make in the lives of children.” I can hardly wait to
see the wonderful difference we are going to make with our current students,” and the new
additions to our South Warren school family. Please know my door is always open to you as we
work together to help your child reach his/her optimal learning potential.
Get ready, because it’s going to be another “AMAZING” year at South Warren!
